Indie Authors
As an indie author myself, a core mission of Untitled Thoughts is to promote and celebrate other indie authors, whether traditionally or self-published! Below is all the information you will need with regards to requesting your book be carried in the shop. Please send me an email at brittani@untitledthoughts.com if you have additional questions or are ready to send information about your book for consideration.
I wrote a book and would love for your shop to carry it. How can I make that possible?
Oh my goodness, congratulations! What an amazing feat you've accomplished! I hope you have taken the time out to celebrate how awesome you already are for completing a whole, real-life book. Writing a book is difficult (I should know), and I try to support as many authors as I can.
That said, Untitled Thoughts is still very new to the book shop game and the number of titles I am able to carry at this time is quite low. So as much as I want to support every author out there, there are some very real limitations.
If your book has been published traditionally and I feel it might have a strong pull with readers, I can order it through the traditional channels. However, if your book is self-published or not available through Ingram, I am able to work directly with you as an author on a potential consignment basis, at least to start.
Books must be professionally bound with the title printed on the spine. Your cover must be high-resolution-the more captivating, the better! I use the standard 60/40 split for all consignment–you, the author, will get 60% of the retail price if you provide your book directly to us. 40% goes to us.
To be considered, all book info should be sent via email. When emailing information about your book, please include your name and where you live, your email address, the book title, publication date, the ISBN, a link to a website with info about your book, and an ePub copy of your novel so that I might take a look at the writing style and content. Any that grab my attention for the shop, I will read in full. If, by the end, I am in LOVE, I will contact you to carry the book in the shop. For any others that I have ead in full, but do not fall in love with or I don't feel are a good fit, I will still leave a review for on Goodreads/ Storygraph/ Fable.
Please note that I am only one person and may not be able to reply to all inquiries, but I promise to take a look at each and every book that seems to be a good fit for the shop and consider it.
How can I help my book thrive at your store?
To end up with the best product you can, a book to be proud of and one people want to read, here is a small list of my best advice:
-
Please please please have your book professionally edited. A potential reader flipping through your book will likely walk away if there are obvious spelling/ grammatical errors (particularly on the cover). A few here or there are no problem (even trad published books let a few slip through), but an excessive amount is a no-go.
-
Think about hiring a professional graphic designer or artist to do your cover and layout. Formatting errors can really disrupt the flow of a story.
-
Buy an ISBN and have a barcode printed on the back cover. This makes it easier to restock your book when it sells out! Plus, it looks more professional.
-
Send people to to Untitled Thoughts to purchase a copy! You don't need to send everyone my way, but mentioning that I carry your book will help spread the word. Consider listing us on your author website as an outlet for your book with a link to our store’s website. The more people know Untitled Thoughts carries your book, the more copies I can sell, meaning the more copies I can purchase from you, too!

Think about ways in which you might be able to help promote your book. Having your book published is a big, exciting step, but it’s only the first step. You need to market your book. Think about how you are planning to do that.
Let us know if you have any questions.
