It's also a great project to play with a bit of embroidery if you really want to jazz it up. Plus it is a super fun & quick sew!
I wanted to keep this project accessible to as many people as possible, so this is a "Pay what want" pattern. If you want it to be totally free, that's awesome! Just select the $0. SUGGESTED FABRIC
The Bijou was originally designed to utilize odd bits of wool scraps typically left ober from creating winter coats. However, that doesn't mean you HAVE to make your beret out of wool! Below are some alternatives that you can use:
Mid-Heavy Weight Woven velvet, Duchess Satin, Suede, (The following fabrics might require use of interfacing to achieve the proper structure): Tropical Weight Wool, Wool Suiting, Mid-Weight Twill, Mid-Weight Corduroy, Quilters Cotton
Please note that it is not recommended that you use very light weight fabrics for this pattern as they do not have the structure necessary to hold up the shape of the beret. Feel free to experiments with mid-weight fabrics + interfacing if you don't have access to any heavier weight fabrics.
