My First Underwire Bra

My First Underwire Bra

Ya'll... I can't even begin to describe how excited I am to have completed this particular under garment. I've worked on bralettes before; I even dabbled in sewing the Sophie Swimsuit last year which has a very similar construction to this Marlborough Bra, but I honestly never thought I would receive so much joy from one little project. Especially since I generally detest wearing bras!

Of course there are a ton of imperfections in this bra. I didn't have the correct thread color, my needle...

My Jenny Overalls - 4 Ways

My Jenny Overalls - 4 Ways

I haven't had a chance to really sew for myself much these past few weeks. We've been working on house renovations and our garden (who knew there could be so many bugs!) and pattern updates- needless to say, my plate has felt very full.

My Hughes Dress

My Hughes Dress

Last year, I mistakenly deleted my entire blog minus one post. I was completely crushed when the realization first sunk in. Years of work and memories and images and information gathered had gone into those posts and they had all been erased from the web in one quick swoop.

Redesigning my 1950s Dress

A few months ago I was culling my closet of old items long forgotten when I happened upon a few that had been mistakenly buried in the shuffle of everyday life coupled with our various moves into different homes.

I hadn't worn two of these beauties simply because they did not fit well. EDIT: They fit me but did not allow me any range of motion or the ability to eat throughout the day, which is a total no-go for me! I want to be able to move and eat a...

My Rumana Coat

My Rumana Coat

I am so excited to finally share this BEAST of a project: The Rumana Coat by By Hand London. This particular coat has been on my radar for at least a year now, but I kept putting the project off because I was slightly intimidated. I also wasn't sold on it's length- it looked as if it could either be a really amazing length or cut me at just the wrong spot. So I waited.

A few months ago, though, I was...
